Configuring Matrox Millennium G450 DualHead for True Multi-monitor mode
- Connect monitors to both the display outputs of the video card.
- Go to Display Properties dialog box by selecting Start |
Settings
| Control Panel menu item and launching Display applet.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- You should see two monitors.
- Click on Advanced... button and go to DualHead tab.
- Select the DualHead Multi-Display item under the Features
node.
- Click on Change Settings... button.
- Check the Use DualHead Multi-Display checkbox and select
Separate resoltuions and color palettes for both displays option as
shown above. This would make the display card switch to True
Multi-monitor mode if it not already in that mode. As a side note, the
other option that says Same resolution and color palette for both displays
gets you in Multi-monitor Span mode.
- Click OK all the way to dismiss all the dialog boxes opened so far.
Windows might require a reboot and would prompt you for it. It would reboot
the machine and after the machine comes up again, it will be in True
Multi-monitor mode.
- To enable use of the second monitor, go to the Display Properties dialog
box and Settings tab again as in step 2 and 3.
- Click on monitor 2 and check against the Extend my Windows desktop onto
this monitor check box as shown below.
In True Multi-monitor mode, you have both the monitors available for use. You
can configure them to have different resolutions and color depths. Select the
monitor in the Display Settings and set the Colors and Screen area individually.
