Which versions of Microsoft PowerPoint does PowerKiosk support?

PowerKiosk is supported on Microsoft PowerPoint 97. For using PowerKiosk-like features with Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, PowerPoint 2002 (XP) or PowerPoint 2003, use PowerShow.

Which versions of Microsoft Windows does PowerKiosk support?

The support for multiple monitors was introduced with Windows 98. PowerKiosk is supported on Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Me, Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP.

Can I store the selections that I have made in the PowerKiosk Session Settings dialog box for future use?

Yes. To save the selections, click the Save Settings... button on the PowerKiosk Session Settings dialog box. You will be prompted to provide the file name in which the settings will be saved. PowerKiosk stores the settings in a file with the extension .pks.

The stored settings include the full path to the selected presentations. The path is stored relative to the settings file.

How do I use the saved settings?

The saved settings can be recalled using Slide Show | Load Power Kiosk Settings... menu item. You will be prompted with a dialog box to provide the file name that has the stored PowerKiosk settings. While loading the settings, PowerKiosk will open the presentations referenced in the settings if they are not already open.

After successfully loading the settings, PowerKiosk will present you the PowerKiosk Session Settings dialog box.

I have configured the show to run on first monitor but it always runs on second monitor. Why is it so?

Make sure that you configure the slide show to run on Primary Monitor. Select Slide Show | Set Up Show... menu item. The Set Up Show dialog box enables you to configure the slide show to run on Primary Monitor.

Who manufactures multi-monitor cards?

The following vendors manufacture multi-monitor cards:

  1. Matrox: Matrox manufactures true dual-head cards - Millennium G450, Millennium G550, Matrox Parhelia.
  2. NVidia: NVidia's MX and Go series of graphic cards have multi-monitor features. GeForce2 and GeForce4 both have MX and Go variants.
  3. Appian Graphics: Appian Rushmore and Appian Hurricane.

My laptop doesn't seem to support multiple displays. Do I have any option other than changing the laptop?

Many modern laptops support dual monitor functions without extra hardware. If it doesn't have in-built support, a PCMCIA graphic card can be plugged into the laptop. The PCMCIA graphic card will fit into the laptop's PCMCIA slot and can be connected to another monitor. PowerShow can use this monitor as a second monitor.

The following vendors manufacture PCMCIA graphic cards:

  1. Village Tronic: VTBook
  2. Margi: The Display-to-Go. Discontinued.
  3. Appian Graphics: Traveler PCMCIA. Discontinued.
