PowerShow is supported on Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 (XP) or Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.

Which versions of Microsoft Windows does PowerShow support?

The support for multiple monitors was introduced with Microsoft Windows 98. PowerShow is supported on Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows Me and Microsoft Windows 98.

Can I store the selections that I have made in the PowerShow Session Settings dialog box for future use?

Yes. To save the selections, click the Save Settings... button on the PowerShow Session Settings dialog box. You will be prompted to provide the file name in which the settings will be saved. PowerShow stores the settings in a file with the extension .pss.

The stored settings include the full path to the selected presentations. The path is stored relative to the settings file.

How do I use the saved settings?

The saved settings can be recalled using Slide Show | Load Power Show Session... menu item. You will be prompted with a dialog box to provide the file name that has the stored PowerShow settings. While loading the settings, PowerShow will open the presentations referenced in the settings if they are not already open.

After successfully loading the settings, PowerShow will present you the PowerShow Session Settings dialog box.

How do I navigate through multiple slide shows simultaneously?

Some of the ways to navigate through multiple slide shows simultaneously are:

  1. The PowerShow SlideShow Navigator toolbar provides buttons that allow you to go to the first slide, previous slide, next slide, last slide on all running slide shows:



    The toolbar can be made visible by selecting View | Toolbars | PowerShow SlideShow Navigator menu item after starting PowerShow or TickerShow session.

  2. Shortcuts for PowerPoint add-in has a feature enables you to navigate advance forward or backwards all running slide shows simultaneously.
  3. The PowerShow Session Controller allows you to control all slide shows from a single console.

What is Quick Power Show? I see this menu item in Slide Show menu.

The Quick PowerShow feature enables you to use your last used PowerShow settings. When you click Start Show button on the PowerShow Session Settings dialog box, PowerShow stores these settings. When you select Slide Show | Quick Power Show menu item, these settings are retrieved and used to start a PowerShow session. All presentations started through Quick PowerShow start from their currently active slide.

The Quick PowerShow settings are stored in QuickPowerShow.pss file in your My Documents folder.

How do I use PowerShow with the free Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 2003?

PowerShow works with Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, PowerPoint 2003, PowerPoint 2002 (XP) and PowerPoint 2000 only. PowerViewer works with the free Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 2003. PowerViewer enhances Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 2003 and provides multi-monitor capabilities to it.

Is PowerShow available for Macintosh version of PowerPoint?

PowerShow is currently available for Windows versions of PowerPoint only. A Macintosh version is being planned.

PowerPoint presentations can be developed on Macintosh and shown through PowerShow on Windows.

Who manufactures multi-monitor cards?

The following vendors manufacture multi-monitor cards:

  1. Matrox: Matrox manufactures true dual-head cards - Millennium G450, Millennium G550, Matrox P650 and P750, Matrox Parhelia.
  2. NVidia: NVidia's MX and Go series of graphic cards have multi-monitor features. GeForce2 and GeForce4 both have MX and Go variants.
  3. Appian Graphics: Appian Rushmore and Appian Hurricane.

My laptop doesn't seem to support multiple displays. Do I have any option other than changing the laptop?

Many modern laptops support dual monitor functions without extra hardware. If it doesn't have in-built support, a PCMCIA graphic card can be plugged into the laptop. The PCMCIA graphic card will fit into the laptop's PCMCIA slot and can be connected to another monitor. PowerShow can use this monitor as a second monitor.

The following vendors manufacture PCMCIA graphic cards:

  1. Village Tronic: VTBook
  2. Margi: The Display-to-Go. Discontinued.
  3. Appian Graphics: Traveler PCMCIA. Discontinued.
