Synchronous Shows

The Synchronous Shows feature of PowerShow enables slide shows to run on multiple monitors synchronized with each other. Among other things, this allows for the same content to be presented in multiple languages at the same time. The Synchronous Shows feature works as follows:

  1. A SyncShow group needs to be created. A SyncShow group has all the slide shows that are supposed to be synchronized with each other.
  2. A SyncGroup has one master show. All other slide shows follow the master slide show. When the master slide show changes slides or does animation builds, the other slide shows follow. The coordinator slide show can have timed animations and slide transitions. The other slide shows should to be configured to advance manually.
  3. PowerShow supports multiple SyncGroups in the same PowerShow session. This allows for unrelated sets of slide shows to get executed. Each SyncGroup is synchronized within itself.

The Prepare Sync Show dialog box helps you create the SyncShow groups. Use the following steps:

  1. Select Slide Show | Prepare Sync Show... menu item.

  2. Select the master presentation from the drop down box.
  3. In the second list box, select the follower slide shows that should be synchronized with the coordinator slide show.
  4. Click OK.
  5. This would create a SyncShow group with the selected coordinator and the coordinated slide shows forming the group. The coordinated slide shows will be setup to advance manually under PowerShow control.
  6. You can repeat steps 1 to 4 for creating other groups. A presentation can be part of only one SyncShow group. A SyncShow group can have only one coordinator.

When you are done creating the SyncShow groups, you can:

  1. Start the PowerShow session as you would do normally. PowerShow will recognize these groups and would keep the slide shows in sync with each other.
  2. Start the TickerShow session as you would do normally. The TickerShow feature will recognize these groups and would keep the slide shows in sync with each other.

Some points to note:

  1. The follower slide shows should not have timed animation builds. The master slide show can have timed animation builds.
  2. The follower slide shows should not have timed transitions. The master slide show can have timed transitions.
To turn OFF timed animations and transitions in coordinated slide shows, perform the following steps in each follower slide show:
    1. Select Slide Show | Set Up Show... menu item.
    2. Select Manually in Advance slides box.
    3. Click OK.
  3. Interactive animation sequences are not supported.
