Information

This following features are introduced by OfficeOne ProTools for PowerPoint in the PowerPoint environment:

Feature 1: Insert Movie with Closed Captions

A professional presentation with movies on slides should have closed captions displayed with the movie. OfficeOne ProTools for PowerPoint allows you to do insert movies with closed captions on PowerPoint slides. The closed captions are fed through a SAMI file and is used with the movie. ProTools for PowerPoint plays the movie through Microsoft Windows Media Player.

Click here for more information on inserting movie with closed captions.

Feature 2: Slide Navigator

The Slide Navigator control is placed on the slide master and it contains a list of slides present in the presentation. During slide shows, select the slide from the list that you want to navigate to. ProTools for PowerPoint will navigate the slide show to that slide.

Click here for more information on Slide Navigator.

Feature 3: Slide Properties

The ProTools Slide Properties toolbar shows the settings for the currently active slide. It allows you to:

  1. Rename slides: Change the name of the slide from the one that PowerPoint gave to the one that you want.
  2. Navigate to a slide using its name.
  3. Navigate to a slide using its index or the slide ID.
  4. Select whether the slide should display the shapes present on the Master slide
  5. Select whether the slide should have the background displayed from the Master slide
  6. Change the layout of the slide. Some of the layouts that PowerPoint supports but aren't available from anywhere in the PowerPoint user interface are available here. Look for the ones that allow Vertical Text.

Feature 4: Shape Properties

The ProTools Shape Properties toolbar shows the settings for the currently selected shape. It allows you to:

  1. Rename shapes: Change the name of the selected shape from the one that PowerPoint gave to the one that you want.
  2. Navigate to a shape using its name.
  3. Change the position of the shape.
  4. Change the height and width of the shape.
  5. Rotate the shape using angles.
  6. The shapes can be renamed, their position, height and width can be changed even when they are part of a group. This is very powerful since you don't have to dismantle the group of shapes to do these changes. Dismantling the group has a slide effect of removing the animations effects, action settings, sound effects, etc. that had been assigned to it.
  7. In PowerPoint 2003, the shape's rotation can be changed too when they are part of a group.

Feature 5: Shape Adjustments

Many of the AutoShapes (Basic Shapes, Block Arrows, Callouts, etc.) allow for adjustments. The adjustments can be done using the mouse pointer by manipulating small yellow diamond (). This can be a tedious process and may not get you 100% precision required for professional presentations. The ProTools Shape Adjustments toolbar allows you to modify the adjustments of the shape using precise numbers. There are in all 8 adjustments that you can make to a shape. Not all shapes support all 8 adjustments. OfficeOne ProTools for PowerPoint activates only the adjustments supported by the selected shape.

The Shape Adjustments toolbar looks like this:
