Slide Navigator

The Slide Navigator feature places a ComboBox or a ListBox control on PowerPoint slides. These Slide Navigator controls contain a list of slides in the presentation. They allow you to navigate to a particular slide by selecting the appropriate one from the list during slide shows.

The following step-by-step instructions show how to use ProTools for PowerPoint to insert Slide Navigator control on PowerPoint slides:

  1. Open a presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. In PowerPoint 2003 and before, select Insert  | Insert Slide Navigator... menu item.
In PowerPoint 2007 and later versions, select ProTools | Insert Slide Navigator... button.

  3. The Slide Navigator control can either be a dropdown ComboBox or a ListBox. Select the appropriate control that you would like to have.
  4. Click OK button.

OfficeOne ProTools for PowerPoint will insert the selected VBA control on the slide master. When the slide show runs, ProTools will:

  1. Fill the Slide Navigator control with the list of slides in the presentation.
  2. Synchronize the Slide Navigator control with the currently displaying slide.
  3. Navigate the slide show to the selected slide when you pick from the list.

If you want to modify the parameters that were set above, do the following:

  1. Stay on the slide that has the ProTools inserted Slide Navigator control.
  2. Select View | Master | Slide Master menu item. This will take you to the master slide.
  3. Select the Slide Navigator control (either the ComboBox or ListBox) and delete it.
  4. Click Close Master View button.
  5. You can now insert a new Slide Navigator control.

Note that the Slide Navigator control is placed on the slide master. If you are using multiple masters in your presentation, you need to insert the Slide Navigator control on each of the masters for which you want to use slide navigator. Navigate to the slide that is using a particular master on which you want to insert the Slide Navigator control and then select Insert | Insert Slide Navigator... menu item and follow the instructions provided at the top of this page.
