PowerPoint is known to stall continuously running shows sometimes. It seems that it misses some system events. ShowMonitor is a free addin that will monitor a PowerPoint slide show and if the show doesn't advance after a specified amount of time, then it advances the show itself. ShowMonitor is supported on Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, PowerPoint 2002 (XP) and PowerPoint 2003. Download the 310 KB installation executable from here.

Installation Instructions

• Download and save ShowMonitor10.exe.
• Execute ShowMonitor10.exe and follow the instructions given at the end of the installation.

Using ShowMonitor

After loading ShowMonitor addin in PowerPoint, select Tools | Configure ShowMonitor... menu item. This dialog box enables you to configure the ShowMonitor settings. ShowMonitor is disabled by default. You need to enable it for ShowMonitor to start monitoring the shows.

Set the monitoring interval to the value that you think would be appropriate to determine that the show has stalled.
