Volume Control is supported on Microsoft PowerPoint 97, PowerPoint 2000, PowerPoint 2002 (XP) and PowerPoint 2003.

What is a Volume Controller?

A Volume Controller is a shape that enables you to adjust the volume during shows since it is available on the slide. The Volume Controller shape should have Min, Max and Value properties. The Scrollbar and Spin controls are among the controls included with Microsoft PowerPoint that have these properties. These controls are available from the Control Toolbox, which can be made visible by selecting View | Toolbars | Control Toolbox.

How do I create a Volume Controller on a slide?

Volume Control addin enables you to insert the Scrollbar or Spin controls on the slide. These can act as Volume Controllers. To insert a Volume Controller on a slide, select Edit | Volume Control | Insert Volume Controller... menu item.

You can control the Master volume, Waveform-audio volume, MIDI synthesizer volume and CD Player volume using Volume Controller.

Can I create more than one Volume Controllers on a slide?

Yes. More than one Volume Controllers can exist on a slide. Typically, this would be used to control different devices using separate Volume Controllers. In the present version, Volume Control addin supports Master volume, Waveform-audio, MIDI synthesizer and CD Player devices. So, you can create separate Volume Controllers to control these devices individually. If more than one Volume Controller is assigned to control the same device, only one of them will be used as a valid Volume Controller for that device.

What is a Mute Controller?

A Mute Controller is a shape that enables you to turn ON or OFF the volume during shows. The Mute Controller is available on the slide to enable you to interact with it during shows. The Mute Controller shape should have the Value property. The Check Box, Option Button and Toggle Button controls are among the controls included with Microsoft PowerPoint that can serve as Mute Controller. These controls are available from the Control Toolbox, which can be made visible by selecting View | Toolbars | Control Toolbox.

How can I create Volume and/or Mute Controller for all the slides in my presentation?

To have Volume and/or Mute Controllers on all the slides, you should create the controllers on the master slides. PowerPoint XP (also known as PowerPoint 2002) supports multiple masters so you should create the controllers on all the master slides.

Select View | Master | Slide Master. This will take you to the master slide.

To insert a Volume Controller on a slide, select Edit | Volume Control | Insert Volume Controller... menu item. This volume controller will be available on all the slides that are based on this master slide.

To insert a Mujte Controller on a slide, select Edit | Volume Control | Insert Mute Controller... menu item. This mute controller will be available on all the slides that are based on this master slide.

What is a waveform-audio file?

Waveform-audio sound files have a .wav extension. The sound files embedded in PowerPoint presentations also come under the same category.
